Pristone Mentorship Standards

A serious mentorship relationship needs more than subject expertise. These standards define how goals, ownership, feedback, privacy, measurement, communication, and claims should be handled.

The Pristone Method

One capability loop across every track.

  1. Diagnose
  2. Prioritize
  3. Build
  4. Test transfer
  5. Measure
  6. Re-prioritize
See how it works

The Pristone Mentorship Standards apply across academic tutoring, contest mathematics, technical coaching, projects, and research. Track-specific terms may add stricter requirements but should not weaken these principles.

Written and operationally reviewed by Edward Mabonga, founder of Pristone Academy.

Core standards

What learners and families should be able to expect

Individualized diagnosis

Recommendations start from observed work and a stated goal, not a preselected package.

Explicit ownership

The learner remains the author, decision-maker, and person responsible for the work.

Increasing independence

Support should reduce dependency over time and make transfer visible.

Regular feedback

Feedback identifies a behavior, explains its consequence, and gives the learner a next action.

Measurable progress

The plan names what will be observed again and what would count as meaningful change.

Transparent communication

Scope, pricing, scheduling, concerns, and fit decisions are discussed plainly.

Ethical use of AI

AI may support learning and investigation, but it must not replace understanding or authorship.

No guaranteed outcomes

Pristone does not guarantee scores, admissions, publications, promotions, or jobs.

Boundaries

What Pristone will not do

Complete assessed work

Mentorship can explain, review, question, and teach. It does not impersonate the learner or complete graded work for submission.

Use confidential material carelessly

Employer, school, customer, security, and personal information must be removed or replaced with safe equivalents.

Manufacture outcomes

Testimonials, scores, case studies, projects, and research claims must be supportable and appropriately consented.

Promise uncontrollable results

No mentor can honestly guarantee admissions, publications, grades, jobs, promotions, or competition outcomes.

Shared responsibility

What the learner contributes

Prepared work

Bring attempts, questions, artifacts, or observations that make the session a working review rather than a generic conversation.

Independent application

Complete agreed work between sessions and identify where support was used.

Honest communication

Raise confusion, workload constraints, concerns, and changes in goals early.

Attribution

Disclose external help and AI assistance where academic, research, or professional rules require it.
